A little about us...

At Poppies we offer an exclusive personal service. Our trained florists work with you to design and advise you on your flowers offering a service that is exclusive, flexible and tailored to your needs.

Our wedding flowers portfolio contains a sample of the many designs we have created over the years.

We have worked with a variety of venues, from Country Houses, Hotels to Castles with many differing clients from Brides through to Corporate, and Celebrities.

Our designers are constantly creating new and exciting ideas.

Marion - Designer and owner of Poppies Designer Flowers

For many years Marion worked within the legal profession a marriage and two children and several pets later she re-trained as a florist fulfilling a lifetime ambition.

She studied at Writtle College and qualified with a NCPF (after nearly giving up three weeks before the end stating quite firmly that she could not take her finals (her daughter who was doing her GCSE's at the time told her to get a grip and she had done three years and there was only three weeks to go). Thank you Sarah - always my calming voice.

Poppies was born whilst Marion was still at college and having started on the kitchen table we have now had our third move into new larger premises next to Writtle College. So coming full circle Here we have a working studio, Coldroom and storage area.

Marion has worked with many clients over the years from Brides, to Celebrities, large country house owners for private parties to many captains of industry. She always claims that being asked to do the unusual will not shock her she has done everything. Watch this space.

The Team

The 'A' team is what I call them because I am very lucky to have a great bunch of people who are as diverse as they are talented. I could never do what I do without them to back me up and I would just like to say here publicly that they say behind every great man is a woman. Well behind this woman is another great team of women (oh and my man - the poor long suffering husband)

Maureen

Maureen has many years of experience as a florist and in fact met Marion when they studied at Writtle College together - known as the Pedestal Queen for obvious reasons.

Margaret

Margaret came to Poppies through Gill another of our florists. Margaret has been a NAFAS Judge and has entered many competitions and was recently asked to represent the East of England in the National Championships. She has also exhibited at Chelsea Flower Show - known as the Shower Bouquet Queen

Lesley

Lesley is the joker amongst us and can always be relied upon to lift our spirits and give us a laugh. A talented florist with a great eye for the contemporary. If you are facing a crisis Lesley's your woman

Carol

What can we say about Carol her buttonholes and corsages are legendary. Carol had worked with previous florists and therefore has a diverse background.

Angie

Angie's particular talent is with the natural country style. If you want a bunch of flowers that look natural (not an easy achievement) Angie is brilliant. Oh and she is amazing at tidying and cleaning up the studio - thank you thank you Angie.

Gill

Gill is out latest addition to the group having come back to us from having her children. Gill also went to college with Marion and Maureen - A talented florist she also has a very good garden and supply of unusual flowers and foliage.
